Long days & sleepless nightssss....

I've seen the new lady who has moved into the apartment below. Mid 40's, well-rounded and moves about the place sort of reminiscent of a wombat (a wombat is a herbivorous Australian marsupial, stocky build and likes to burrow....), as I can hear the occasional 'thump' from down below.

Having spent the past 4 weeks neighbour-free (not to mention earplug FREE) was pure bliss for me. After recently relocating across the hallway (yep, biggest move yet shuffling sideways from Unit 4 to Unit 3) after a loud 9 months battling hip-hop central at any wild time of the day or night... I must admit, wombat woman is a pure delight. Even though the earplugs have now reappeared, much to my chagrin...... c'est la vie!!!

Hi there Leif,

It is Paula here! I can well relate to your ramblings about Ms WombyWoman. I can also relate very much to your need to have earplugs in in order to sleep. I also live in an apartment, below a male neighbour whom I have coined Ratman. He is extremely heavy handed/heavy-all-limbed, middle aged, and unsurprisingly single! He reminds me of a rat as he kind of scurries fast all the time, and seems to have obsessive compulsive tendencies, to rat around and do his chores and routine thumping and banging at any hour of the day. He is the only person I know who can make a brief case sound like an elephant being dropped when he puts it down. Sometimes it requires that I get out my drum and have a little beat in reply! It keeps me sane and is a good anger release; well I can;t take it out on my patients can I?! Ha ha! Now, ear plugs...well since I have been wearing them I can dream for the first time in years as my sleep is uninterrupted!! Maybe the earplugs hold the dreams from escaping my head, allowing me to dream them! Do you think the earplugs being in our ears every night will eventually expand our ear canals so that we cannot keep earplugs in our ears any more over the long term? This worries me a little! I do not want gaping holes on the sides of my head!!Not very elegant!

May the rat and the wombat somehow find peace up there in that world of noise-generating neighbours, so we may sleep earplugless......yeah right!!

:)
